Statement of the Administration

The Administration of the President of Georgia deems it unfortunate that the representative of the President was not invited to attend the National Security Council meeting held on February 28, 2023.

Discussed issues, which included important world and regional security trends and among them “ongoing hostile actions in Ukraine,” the challenges facing Georgia, ongoing processes on the occupied territories, or the review of the threat assessment document, in all cases, it required the presence of the President’s representative at the Council.

It must be noted that the President has repeatedly raised the issue of convening the National Security Council meeting. The President also emphasized the need to study the challenge of the entry of Russian citizens into Georgia in this format, which was not followed by a response.

Given the challenges facing the country, leaving Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s representative out of the discussions is hard to understand.
