The President of Georgia paid homage to the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the fight for Lithuania's independence

As part of her official visit to Lithuania, the President of Georgia paid tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for the independence of the Republic of Lithuania. At the Antakalnis cemetery, she honored their memory by laying a wreath at their memorial as a symbol of respect.

 

Additionally, President Zourabichvili paid her respects and decorated the grave of Datiko Machavariani, a Georgian officer who fought to protect Georgia's statehood after the Russian occupation, while in exile in St. Petersburg. He served in the artillery of the Polish National Army in Vilnius, where he attained the rank of major and received several important awards.
