According to the decree of the President, the 9-member composition of the Georgian National Award Commission was approved today, to be headed by the rector of Ilia State University, philologist, and linguist Nino Doborjginidze.
Today, the first session of the commission was held at the Administration of the President. The commission includes representatives from various fields of science and laureates of the national award.
The National Award Commission of Georgia, established by the decree of the President of Georgia, has announced the competition for the National Award of Georgia.
Applications and works for the competition will be accepted from July 23 to September 6, 2024, at the Administration of the President of Georgia, located at St. Tbilisi, Atoneli St. N25, postal code 0108, and also electronically at info@president.gov.ge. The National Prize of Georgia is awarded to a person for a paper or a series of papers conducted at a high scientific level in the fields of natural science, humanities, social, political, economic, legal, medical, life sciences, or engineering. The work must have gained universal recognition and made a significant contribution not only to Georgian science but also to the world's spiritual, social, and/or economic development.
The award is given annually to no more than two recipients, with each receiving 10,000 (ten thousand) GEL. The recipient of the prize will be awarded a diploma, a laureate badge, and the corresponding cash prize.
The award is typically given to a citizen of Georgia. However, by decision of the President of Georgia, it can also be awarded to a foreigner or a stateless person.
Educational and scientific institutions with the relevant authority and competence, creative or other public organizations, and initiative groups working in the relevant scientific field have the right to nominate candidates for the award.
The prize can be awarded posthumously if the author's work was published before the end of the competition application period and meets the criteria for awarding the prize.
Submission of a paper for the award is allowed only after its publication and/or practical application.
