THE PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA MET WITH THE DEPUTY SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE UNITED STATES

 

The President of Georgia discussed Georgian-American relations and issues related to Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration with Uzra Zeya, the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States.

At the meeting held at the Orbeliani Palace, the President of Georgia emphasized the country's commitment to a European future, stating that Georgia has never been and will never be pro-Russian. She noted that the vast majority of the Georgian people support the country's European path.

The President of Georgia thanked the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States for the strong support provided to the country's development across various fields over the past ten years since Georgia's independence.

The conversation touched on the upcoming parliamentary elections. The President of Georgia mentioned that there will be full mobilization of society, the non-governmental sector, and young people, and that the Georgian people will once again confirm their European choice.

During the discussion of Georgian-American relations at the meeting, the conversation also touched on the postponement of military exercises and its potential consequences.

The importance of the "Georgian Charter" was discussed, which is an action plan drawn up by the president to implement the recommendations of the European Union as soon as possible. The signatories of the charter took responsibility to fulfill their obligations, to return Georgia to the European path.

The Deputy Secretary of State of the United States thanked the President of Georgia for leading the country on its European path. She emphasized that her visit confirms America's commitment to a deep partnership with the Georgian people and assured that the US will continue to support Georgia's sovereignty.

According to her statement, the anti-democratic changes implemented by the Georgian government, which are fraught with challenges, have jeopardized the country’s Euro-Atlantic path that reflects the will of the Georgian people.
