President Zourabichvili Pays Official Visit to the Republic of Latvia on May 14


As part of her official visit, President Salome Zourabichvili will hold meetings with high-level officials of the Republic of Latvia, including the President of the Republic of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis, the Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, and Prime Minister Arturs Krišjānis Kariņš.
  
According to Tea Maisuradze, Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Latvia, the President’s visit to Latvia is of high importance in order to deepen the friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries. 
 
“Latvia is a strong supporter of Georgia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, membership toward the European Union and NATO, and actively assists to advance the path toward European and Euro-Atlantic integration”, stated Tea Maisuradze.
 
President Zourabichvili will also hold a meeting with the 6th President of Latvia, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, to whom Latvia’s membership in the EU and NATO is credited. It should be noted that Latvia celebrates the fifteenth anniversary of its EU and NATO membership this year.
 
The official visit will, traditionally, include the President’s meetings with Georgian students and with representatives of the Georgian diaspora
